Hourly to Salary Converter
Turn an hourly wage into annual, monthly, weekly, and daily pay before taxes.
Turning an hourly wage into a yearly salary
Annual pay is your hourly rate multiplied by the hours you work each week and the weeks you are paid each year. The other figures are divided out from there.
Weekly pay = hourly rate × hours per week
Annual pay = weekly pay × paid weeks per year
Monthly pay = annual pay ÷ 12 · Daily pay = weekly pay ÷ days per week
Worked pay examples
$25 an hour, full time
$25 × 40 hours = $1,000 a week. Over 52 weeks that is $52,000 a year, about $4,333.33 a month, or $200 a day over a five-day week.
$18 an hour, 30 hours, 50 paid weeks
$18 × 30 = $540 a week; × 50 weeks = $27,000 a year, or $2,250 a month. Lowering paid weeks is a simple way to account for unpaid time off.
Going the other way
A full-time year is often treated as 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours. A $52,000 salary ÷ 2,080 hours ≈ $25 an hour.
Common pay mistakes
Multiplying weekly pay by four for a month
A year has about 4.33 weeks per month, not 4. $1,000 × 4 = $4,000 understates the monthly average of $52,000 ÷ 12 ≈ $4,333.33.
Comparing gross pay with take-home pay
These results are before income tax, payroll taxes, retirement contributions, and benefits deductions. A salaried job and an hourly or contract job can also differ in paid leave and benefits that this conversion does not value.
Limits of this conversion
The calculator assumes the same hours every week. It does not include overtime premiums, shift differentials, tips, bonuses, or unpaid breaks. Freelancers should also set money aside for self-employment tax; the freelancer guide explains that separately.
