Haul Yield
Measure delivered load efficiency, material loss, and gross haul revenue.
Delivered weight, yield, and revenue
Haul yield compares the weight delivered with the weight loaded. It can help reconcile two load measurements, but it is not a fuel-efficiency, driver-pay, or tax calculation. Use tonnes for both weights and a price per delivered tonne for the rate.
Delivery yield = (delivered weight ÷ loaded weight) × 100
Material variance = max(0, loaded weight − delivered weight)
Gross revenue = delivered weight × rate per tonne
The variance line only shows a shortfall. If delivered weight exceeds loaded weight, the yield can exceed 100% while variance displays zero. That does not confirm a physical gain or validate the measurements.
Worked load examples
28 tonnes loaded and 26.8 tonnes delivered
Delivery yield is 26.8 ÷ 28 × 100 ≈ 95.71%. The shortfall is 1.2 tonnes. At $72 per delivered tonne, gross revenue is 26.8 × $72 = $1,929.60.
A complete 20-tonne delivery
If loaded and delivered weights both equal 20 tonnes, yield is 100% and variance is zero. At $50 per tonne, gross revenue is $1,000. Zero variance describes the entered figures; it does not establish scale accuracy.
Delivered weight greater than loaded weight
With 10 tonnes loaded and 10.5 delivered, yield is 105% and the displayed variance is zero. Check units, tare weights, scale calibration, moisture changes, and whether both records describe the same load before drawing conclusions.
Common mistakes and limits
Do not mix kilograms, tonnes, and US short tons. Compare net material weights on the same measurement basis, not a gross vehicle weight with a net load weight. If a contract pays by loaded weight or a fixed trip fee, the revenue equation here may not match the contract.
Gross revenue is not profit: it excludes fuel, labor, tolls, equipment, insurance, and taxes. A weight difference alone does not identify its cause. The calculator uses entered figures and does not import weighbridge tickets or verify delivery records.
When loaded weight is zero, the tool displays 0% as a fallback rather than a meaningful yield ratio. Delivered weight can still produce revenue independently. Results are rounded for display.
